"I decided to find a way to support in my way, by supporting and helping our warfighters and their families."
I was born in Cameroon, Africa and spent my childhood there. I moved to America when I was a teenager, where I was raised in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, and Virginia). I graduated in 2015 from Bowie State University with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and also received my citizenship that year. After becoming an American citizen, I decided to change my career goals. I wanted to contribute and give back. I spoke to a Navy recruiter in Virginia who helped me get my paperwork ready to join the military. In the meantime, I decided that the Air Force would be a better fit, so I started working with an Air Force recruiter once I moved to Rhode Island. I got on a bus to MEPS at 0600. MEPS is the Military Entrance Processing Station, but nobody calls it that. Everyone calls it MEPS. I went to another physical where I completed a bunch of medical history forms and saw the MEPS doctor. During that process, the doctor found a medical condition in my eyes I didn't know I had called Lattice Degeneration. This condition is not waivable by the Department of Defense (DoD). Since then, when I realized I would never wear a uniform, I decided to find a way to help in my way, by supporting and helping our warfighters, veterans and their families. One of my favorite highlights was during one of my wife’s (Commander Kaman) tours when she was at the Naval War College. We sponsored an OCS midshipman helping him to succeed on his Navy journey and we also volunteered to be Arleigh Burke fellows with the International Program, helping 54 international officers and their families. My wife is now the Commanding Officer of a Helicopter Training Squadron, HT- 8. Currently, I am pursuing my Masters in Data Sciences at the University of West Florida.
